P90X Project
So I completely forgot to blog on Friday and Saturday because I was extremely busy this weekend and it completely slipped my mind. It randomly occurred to me today after I finished praying that I needed to blog about our in class research project on P90X. My group was assigned the research part of the project. We looked for the credentials of the product and the man who created the fitness program. We also found out that there was no real scientific explanation behind P90X; all that was provided was the "muscle confusion" theory that made product users think P90X had some sort of medical research behind it. We also found out that the website provided video demonstrations of the exercise plan and the program provided product users a nutrition plan as well as worksheets to track their everyday exercise. To reinforce the product, the website was teeming with "success stories" and extra information to persuade people to use it by mentioning that celebrities and professional athletes have used this product. All in all, with a bit further research, one can conclude that P90X is presented as an overly amazing product and the website is highly persuasive due to the use of "evidence" and motivating information all over the website.
