Whoops, I kinda forgot to post about what specific advice I would give to the juniors...Well, here it is:
To have a good presentation:
-Be creative -you don't want to look like everyone else, now do you? I wanted my judges to remember me, so I dressed up like a doctor with a lab coat and a stethoscope around my neck. I also introduced myself as "Future Dr. Fatima Ahmad" to make them laugh.
-Don't just have treats (candy); have treats that relate to your project, like something the judges can take with them. For example, I had cute, bright-colored papers with interesting facts about pediatric eating disorders on one side, and a list of symptoms of some common eating disorders. On the papers, I attached organic lollipops and colorful ribbons. That definitely impressed my judges.
-Be prepared- The night before my presentation, I spent about 1hr 30 mins creating an outline of what I would say and I rehearsed it several times until I was certain I sounded like a professional who knew EVERYTHING about eating disorders. Make sure all your information is accurate and try to stay away from personal opinions.
Problems that may arise:
-So one problem I had was that my website did not work at first, even though I had it on my USB. However, I did not give up (DO NOT FREAK OUT! AS YOU TRY TO FIX THE PROBLEM, CASUALLY TALK ABOUT YOUR PROJECT AND SOME FACTS YOU MAY HAVE LEFT OUT EARLIER WHEN YOU WERE SPEAKING.) I simply removed my USB and reinserted it while continuing to talk about my project, and my website was working in no time!
Suggestions for next year:
- I would suggest that RCHS have a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place award for the 3 best presentations. That way, seniors will be more encouraged to go above and beyond to make their projects the best. I did not see this type of motivation this year...

Presentation
So, unfortunately, my practice presentation went terribly today. I was extremely ill-prepared and kept freezing in the middle. This week has been very hectic for me, so I did not have time to prepare. Of course next week I will be far better prepared!
I would like to buy a navy table cloth, and will be dressed up as a doctor (in a lab coat and nice clothes). Also, my table will have lollipops on it which will have a paper on the back containing a list of signs characterizing pediatric eating disorders. My poster will be attached to my science fair board and I will have copies of the survey that I would like to implement in annual pediatric eating disorders.

Website
My end product consists of the incorporation of annual pediatric eating disorder screening. This will be in the form of a survey/ questionnaire to be completed by children and their parents annually. Also, pediatricians will be required to pay close attention to the symptoms of eating disorders in children.

Slides- Identification of Pediatric Eating Disorders
1. Relates to my project because it is kind of a shade of red (very serious, sophisticated color)' picture of little boy because my project pertains to pediatric eating disorders
2. Just a bright colorful look with fruits ( goes with my project because it indirectly encourages healthy eating); i will put 2-3 quick tips on maintaining health
3. Blue color relates to medical field and my website colors; doctor checking baby relates to catchy phrase, "early detection means early prevention"
4. Crying girl- i will put a fact about how pediatricians struggle to assess and identify eating disorders in patients.
